Canadian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City – Sir Richard Bale shared that: Government of Canada would finance IFC to support Loc Troi Group to implement the sustainable rice program with 3 reasons: Firstly, it wants to finance the concentration on the agricultural sector, it chooses the Mekong Delta to help peasantry develop the supply string of some products. Secondly, it wants to train in food processing sector. It has worked with People’s Committees of Soc Trang Province, Tra Vinh Province and decided to sign with IFC and Loc Troi Group in rice sector in order to cope with climate change. Thirdly, the Mekong Delta is the place under the greatest influence of climate change in the world, so it needs to do immediate things to help the Mekong Delta to overcome difficulties in climate change. one should not concentrate excessively on rice production but pay attention on other agricultural products to help to increase the income of producers.
