Enterprise & integration – U.S. Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink announced that 16 investors from a variety of industries across Vietnam returned yesterday from Washington D.C, following the SelectUSA Investment Summit (Investment Summit) from June 20-22.
The Investment Summit, hosted by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, is the highest profile event to connect global companies and U.S. economic development organizations (EDOs) to facilitate foreign direct investment in the United States.
“The SelectUSA Investment Summit is the single best venue for global companies to discover how tax reform, regulatory reduction, and other pro-growth Trump Administration policies have made the United States an even more attractive destination for business investment,” said Secretary Ross.
For the second year in a row, Vietnam had the largest delegation from Southeast Asia. On Friday, June 15, Ambassador Kritenbrink met with members of the delegation in Ho Chi Minh City for a pre-departure briefing to learn about their investment plans and encourage them to take advantage of business opportunities by investing in the United States.
“The trade and investment relationship between Vietnam and the United States is important and growing rapidly, and investing in the U.S. is one of the best decisions a Vietnamese company can make,” said Ambassador Kritenbrink.
The annual Investment Summit is the highest-level event attracting FDI in the United States. Participants from the previous four Summits have announced nearly $93 billion in greenfield investment projects in the United States, supporting more than 140,000 U.S. jobs.
More than 3,000 people attended this year’s Summit, including 1,200 business representatives from 66 foreign markets, and economic development organizations (EDOs) from 51 U.S. states and territories.
